Kelvin Higa

Dr. Kelvin Higa is a fellow of the ASMBS and has served as president of this organization 2007-2008 and is currently serving as President for IFSO. Considered one of the early pioneers in minimally invasive bariatric surgery, Dr. Higa has devoted much of his time teaching surgical residents, fellows and participating in international courses on bariatric and metabolic surgery. Currently he holds the academic appointment of Clinical Professor in Surgery and his major interest is in revisional bariatric procedures, including endoscopic and innovative techniques. Dr. Higa is director of Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the Fresno Heart and Surgical Hospital and continues to be a strong advocate for bariatric/metabolic patients and started a non-profit organization dedicated to the research and treatment of metabolic syndromes.
