What if theatre could be used to honestly, even radically, tackle the problems of obesity from the public stage? Could scientists and creative artists work together to provoke and entertain people out of this health crisis?
In this session, Alana Valentine a Writer-In-Residence supported by the Charles Perkins Centre (Sydney) will give a sneak preview of her CPC - commissioned stage play Made To Measure based on interviews with scientists and wedding dress couturiers. She will tackle how the paradox of human nature factors into the complex puzzle of obesity.
This should be a feature of the meeting and SHOULD NOT BE MISSED!!
AND, there will be audience participation for the budding thespians in our midst!
Alana Valentine is a multi-award winning playwright. Her play Head Full of Love about kidney disease toured extensively around Australia. Her play Ear to the Edge of Time won the prestigious STAGE International award in 2012 for the best play about science and/or technology. She is currently the Writer-in-Residence at the CPC in Sydney working on Dr Cassandra about the public treatment of obesity scientists in Australia. www.alanavalentine.com
